When the day doesn't us enough hours to get our tasks done, we tend to lose out on sleep. Most people think sleep is just a simple "down time" for the body to relax and unwind. This isn't so.
Sleep is a physical and mental resting state in which a person becomes relatively inactive and unaware of the environment. There are various stages during our sleep that take place. Throughout
an eight-house sleep cycle, a normal adult alternates between two very different states, non-Rapid Eye Movement and Rapid Eye Movement sleep.
The recommended sleep requirement for adults is between 7-9 hours a night. However, each person is different and it may change throughout their life.
When not enough sleep is obtained, our entire day is made difficult. Our tasks at hand become challenging due to our lack of energy, awareness and attentiveness. A lack of sleep is connected to poor behavior
and trouble in relationships, especially among young children and teens. People with lack of sleep may gain weight easier as the energy required during the day to keep you awake may come, from foods rich in
sugars and carbohydrates. In addition, lack of sleep increases our risk for heart disease, high blood pressure and other related medical conditions.
The following tips will help any individual achieve a great night's sleep and feel rejuvenated for a new day:
- Stick to a sleep schedule: Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time each day.
- Avoid caffeine and nicotine: The stimulating effects of these products can prevent a sufficient night's sleep.
- No midnight snacking: The stimulating effects of these products can prevent a sufficient night's sleep.
- Sleeping Environment: The best sleeping environment is somewhere: dark, quiet, cool (67-68 degrees), with a comfortable sleeping surface and privacy (closed door/shut blinds).
Overall, proper sleeping habits are required in order for us to maintain good health and keep us functioning at our very best!
Yours in good health, CanadaPharmacy.com
