  Joint Pain Newsletter

August 01, 2010

It's the perfect weather to get outside and enjoy the activities you love, but are your joints feeling up to it? Joint pain is a very common reason for people to forego their favorite summer pastimes. There are hundreds of causes of joint ailments, but there's no reason to let the pain ruin your summer. With proper management, you should be able to enjoy everything you want to.

- Get a diagnosis. You won't know how to manage your joint pain if you don't know what the cause is. We recommend that you see your doctor to find the root of your joint condition. It may be something as simple as a joint sprain that will go away with time and therapy, it could be the start of arthritis, or it could be a symptom of something else. Never try to guess what it is.

- Adapt the activity. Often we can find ways to change how we do something in order to make it easier on our joints. For example, if you love gardening but are having trouble kneeling, try new ways to do your old hobby. Minimize kneeling by using a low level chair that will still enable you to reach the flower beds, or use an outdoor cushion so that you are sitting rather than kneeling.

- Follow through with treatment. If your doctor has prescribed medication for your joints, assigned you to physical therapy, or recommended medications to manage the pain, then follow his instructions. In many cases your doctor may recommend that you offer your joints more support by either taping or binding them before certain activities. Although this may seem time consuming, it can do wonders to prevent your joints from deteriorating even more.

- Don't stay in pain. Pain relievers are not just for headaches and fevers! There are many over the counter medications that are fast acting and specially formulated for joint related pain. There are also creams, patches and heating pads that can bring an end to your discomfort. Try out a few to see which ones work best for you.

This summer make sure that joint pain doesn't keep you from doing everything you want to! Have your doctor help you find the best way to cure or manage your joint pain, and then let CanadaPharmacy.com help you with what you need to get out there and have fun.
