Description:
Chemical Name: Clodronate (KLA-dronayt) Bisphosphonates, such as clodronate (BONEFOS), are used to treat problems arising from malignant tumors that have metastasized to sites in the skeleton. Clodronate (BONEFOS) is used for the treatment and prevention of hypercalcaemia, bone pain, and fractures due to malignant osteolysis, “erosion of bone”, especially in breast cancer, multiple myeloma, and prostate cancer. Clodronate (BONEFOS) treats the harmful effects of cancer in your bones by reducing the risk of fractures, normalizing the elevated levels of calcium in your blood, relieves bone pain and protects your bones from further damage. Clodronate (BONEFOS) acts by inhibiting the process of formation of tumor metastases in the bones. Osteolysis, the abnormal destruction of bone, happens due to increased activity of the bone resorbing cells, called osteoclasts. BONEFOS effectively inhibits the activity of these cells.
