Description:
The Emla Patch contains a local anesthetic used to numb the skin to pain from injections and other medical procedures.

Ingredients:
LIDOCAINE (LYE-doe-kane) and PRILOCAINE (PRIL-oh-kane)

Directions:
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. This medicine comes with a patient information leaflet. Read it carefully. Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist any questions that you may have about this medicine. TO APPLY THIS MEDICINE, wash and completely dry the chosen area. Apply the disc at the site of the procedure. Press firmly around the edges of the disc to be sure it sticks. DO NOT PRESS ON THE CENTER of the disc. This medicine must be applied at least 1 hour before the procedure. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light.

Cautions:
SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include skin paleness, loss of feeling, itching, redness, or swelling at the treated site.DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE or use this medicine for longer than prescribed without checking with your doctor. AVOID GETTING THIS MEDICINE IN YOUR EYES or on the inside of your nose or mouth. If you get this medicine in your eyes, rinse them with plenty of water. THIS MEDICINE BLOCKS PAIN AND FEELING in the skin. Be careful not to injure the treated skin by scratching, rubbing, or coming in contact with extreme cold or heat. IF YOU EXPERIENCE difficulty breathing; tightness of chest; swelling of eyelids, face, or lips; or if you develop a rash or hives, tell your doctor immediately. Do not use any more of this medicine unless your doctor tells you to do so. FOR WOMEN: THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED IN BREAST MILK. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
