ACETYLCYSTEINE Common Uses This medicine is a mucolytic used to thin mucus secretions in the lungs and bronchial tubes. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Directions:
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. THIS MEDICINE IS SOMETIMES GIVEN through a nebulizer. Be sure to only use the nebulizer recommended by your doctor. IF THIS MEDICINE IS USED with a face mask, it may cause stickiness on your face. Remove the stickiness by washing your face with water after using this medicine. THIS MEDICINE MAY CHANGE COLOR in the opened bottle. This is harmless. STORE UNOPENED BOTTLES OF THIS MEDICINE at room temperature, away from heat and light. Opened bottles of undiluted solution may be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE AND YOU ARE USING IT REGULARLY, use it as soon as possible and then go back to your regular dosing schedule.

Cautions:
If your breathing does not improve or if it becomes worse, check with your doctor. This medicine may initially produce a slight disagreeable odor that soon disappears. This is harmless. FOR WOMEN IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby. Possible Side Effects SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include mouth or tongue irritation, nausea, vomiting, or runny nose. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
