Description:
Beta-carotene is one of the most well-researched antioxidants. It is a carotenoid; a phytonutrient that gives plants their bright colours. There are over 600 carotenoids in plants, and of those, approximately 20 can be found in the foods we eat. Over 200 studies show that carotenoids enhance immune function and lower risk of heart disease and cancer. Beta-carotene, in particular, is believed to reduce the risk of heart attack, breast cancer and macular degeneration (chronic eye disease).
