This medicine is a laxative combination used to clean out the bowel before surgery or other procedures. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.

HalfLytely Bowel Prep Directions:
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. DRINK ONLY CLEAR LIQUIDS and do not eat any solid foods on the day you take this medicine. BEFORE USING THIS MEDICINE fill the container with the amount of water indicated on the package label. Use lukewarm water to mix this medicine to help the medicine dissolve faster. SHAKE WELL. CHILLING THIS MEDICINE improves the taste. Do not add sugar, sweetening agents, or other additives to this medicine. IF YOU ARE TAKING ANY OTHER MEDICINES, including cephalosporin antibiotics (such as cephalexin or cefuroxime), certain antifungals (such as ketoconazole or itraconazole), certain diabetes medicines (such as glipizide or glyburide), or tetracycline antibiotics (such as doxycycline or tetracycline), take them at least 2 hours before you begin taking this medicine in order for them to work properly. Contact your doctor or pharmacist with any concerns you may have about taking your other medicines. Your doctor will tell you when to start using this medicine. SWALLOW THE BISACODYL TABLETS WHOLE with water. Do not break, crush, or chew before swallowing. DO NOT TAKE ANTACIDS within one hour of taking the bisacodyl tablets. A bowel movement should occur within 1 to 6 hours after taking the tablets. Begin drinking the solution after the first bowel movement (or a maximum of 6 hours) unless directed otherwise by your doctor. SHAKE WELL before taking each dose. DRINK 8 OUNCES (240ml) of this medicine every 10 minutes until the medicine is gone unless otherwise directed by your doctor. It is best to drink each portion quickly rather than sipping it. Rinsing your mouth with mouthwash after each glass of medicine may help get rid of the taste. AVOID DRINKING LARGE AMOUNTS OF WATER during and after taking this medicine. A watery bowel movement should occur about 1 hour after drinking the solution. Before mixing, STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) in a tightly-closed container away from heat and light. Brief storage between 59 and 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) is permitted. After preparing the solution, STORE THIS MEDICINE in the refrigerator in a tightly-closed container. Use within 48 hours. Discard any unused portion of this medicine. NOTIFY YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you are unable to finish taking this medicine prior to your test

HalfLytely Bowel Prep Cautions:
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you are also taking a potassium-sparing diuretic (such as spironolactone or triamterene). ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking diuretics (such as hydrochlorothiazide or furosemide), ACE inhibitors (such as lisinopril or captopril), eplerenone, stimulant medicines (such as dextroamphetamine or pseudoephedrine), or lithium. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions including throat (esophagus) disease, ulcerative colitis, heart disease (such as abnormal heart rhythms or congestive heart failure), swallowing problems (such as history of aspiration or regurgitation), impaired gag reflex, kidney problems, seizures, undiagnosed rectal bleeding, undiagnosed stomach pain, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have appendicitis, a history of stomach or bowel disease (such as ileus, bowel obstruction or perforation, bleeding of the stomach or bowel, gastric retention, toxic colitis, or toxic megacolon), a certain type of severe constipation (fecal impaction), or if you have recently had stomach or bowel surgery. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about using this medicine.

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product. THIS MEDICINE CONTAINS SODIUM. Tell your doctor if you are on a low-salt diet. KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LABORATORY APPOINTMENTS while you are taking this medicine. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. Other medicines taken by mouth within 1 hour of taking this medicine may not be be effective. Contact your doctor or pharmacist with any concerns you might have about taking your other medicines. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.

HalfLytely Bowel Prep Side Effects:
SIDE EFFECTS that may go away during treatment include nausea, bloating, stomach fullness or cramps, vomiting, or rectal irritation. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience persistent or severe nausea and vomiting, vomiting of blood, severe abdominal pain, severe bloating or abdominal swelling, slowed or irregular heartbeat, or seizure. An allergic reaction to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
