7 Tips To Get Ready For Summer

As winter comes to an end and spring rolls around the corner, we get longer days and warmer weather. This is the perfect time to shred some winter weight and get ready for the summer.

However, people find it hard to obtain the resources to help them drop those extra pounds that they put on during the winter. But with this simple 7 step plan you will be able to gain the confidence that you need to wear your favorite summer clothing.

Here are some tips and advice to help lose that extra weight from the winter:

1) It is better to have small meals throughout the day

It is known to be a lot healthier and better to eat five to six meals a day rather than skipping meals and substituting it for one big meal at the end of the day. Depending on how physically active you are throughout the day, your meals should consist of 200 to 400 calories. The benefits of eating small meals throughout the day helps maintain your energy and stabilize your blood sugar. It also helps increase your speed of your metabolism which helps lose weight. You will also find that you will have more energy and will be less hungry throughout the day.

2) Making healthy food choices

When planning your diet it is important that it consists of fresh fruits and vegetables. And during the spring and summer, you get an abundance of choice and variety when it comes to fruit and vegetables. Also it is important to have some kind of lean protein in your meals. This will allow you to stay full and stay less hungry throughout the day. It is also important to include some low - or non - fat dairy products to help keep your bones strong. In addition, it is better to grill, bake or boil your foods rather than frying them in fat. Moreover, you should avoid sugary drinks like juice and pop and substitute it with water. By shifting to a cleaner diet it will help you lose weight and help keep it off.

3) Plan your meals ahead of time

When planning your meals ahead of time there are many positive benefits that come out of it. For example, it will make your shopping a lot easier and faster which will allow you to save time during the week. Also it will help you, by eliminating the last minute stress when you’re running late for work in the morning. By planning your meals ahead of time, will help control your portion sizes and have ready to eat meals when you’re running behind. Also it helps you avoid making unhealthy choices and helps you avoid reaching for that bag of potato chips.

4) Make time for exercise

With your busy on the go schedule it is really important to set some time aside for physical activity. If you are a beginner and are just introducing physical activity into your daily routine, you should start with at least 20 minutes of aerobic exercise, at least three times a week. As you do this weekly, you will notice that your stamina will slowly increase. Therefore, you can now slowly increase your aerobic exercise towards 60 minutes. By the summer you should be able to do 60 minutes of aerobic exercise at least five times a week. There are many actives like soccer, dance and swimming that include aerobic type fitness. So if you choose activities that you enjoy you are most likely to stick with it.

5) The positive benefits of building muscle

Building muscle is a great way to look toned and fit. But it also helps increase your metabolism speed, which will help you lose some weight and keep it off. To get the most out of building and gaining muscle, it is important to do weight training at least two days a week for at least 30 minutes. From building and gaining muscle, you will notice that you have more energy and that you will have better athletic performance. Weight training is also used for strengthening bones and joints.

6) Find a friend

Having a friend along your side will motivate you to keep active and on track so you can get your summer body. You will find that you will get better results because you have someone that will help you push to get towards your weight loss goal. It will also allow you to have some healthy competition with each other. This will motivate you and allow you to have some fun during this process and journey.

7) Check in with yourself

Weigh yourself every two weeks to help you see visually what progress you are making to reach your summer body goal. Watching your weight scale go down will motivate you to keep going with your healthy routine. However, it is possible to lose body fat but not overall weights loss. So get a measuring tape and wrap it around your waste and see you progress in this form. Once you see your numbers going down, it will motivate you to keep on track.

The spring weather is the perfect time to get a head start and to motivate you to drop your winter weight and improve your health.

So why wait?
