A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.
The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.
Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.

Follow the instructions that come with your Striverdi Respimat prescription. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about any questions or concerns you have.
The usual dose is to inhale two puffs by mouth one time a day at the same time each day.
Ingredients
Olodaterol, a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist, is the active ingredient in Striverdi Respimat.
Contraindications
Do not use Striverdi Respimat to treat asthma.
Cautions
Striverdi Respimat has FDA Boxed Warnings regarding the increased risk of asthma-related death.
- Before you start using Striverdi Respimat, you should tell your doctor about:
- All the medications you take
- Your allergies
- Your health history and current health problems
- Your pregnancy or breastfeeding status
- Use your Striverdi Respimat as prescribed by your doctor and do not use more than the recommended dose, as this can cause life threatening heart problems.
- Striverdi Respimat should not be used to treat acute worsening of COPD.
- Striverdi Respimat should not be used to treat asthma.
- Airway constriction can occur immediately after use of Striverdi Respimat. Stop using Striverdi Respimat and seek medical care immediately if this occurs.
- Caution should be used in patients with seizure disorders, thyroid problems, or sensitivity to drugs that affect the sympathetic nervous system.
Side Effects
The most common side effects associated with Striverdi Respimat are a cold, upper respiratory tract infection, bronchitis, urinary tract infection, cough, dizziness, rash, diarrhea, back pain, and joint pain. If you develop side effects that are bothersome or persistent, you should contact their doctor right away.
