Description
What is Timoptic XE 0.5 used for?
Timoptic XE 0.5% are eye drops used for lowering the intraocular pressure within the eye. They belong to the group of beta blockers which are non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor blocking agents. They are effectively used in high-pressure intraocular conditions namely, open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. Their beneficial action is through their capability in decreasing the amount of fluid production within the eye, thus helping in lowering the raised intraocular pressure. This pressure lowering helps in preventing blindness that is associated with these eye conditions that manifest as high intraocular pressure disorders.

Directions
Timoptic XE 0.5% is solely meant for eye use and strictly as prescribed by your doctor. It is usually administered as a single drop twice daily in the affected eye. Take care to wash your hands before using the gel.
Remove your contact lenses, if you wear them, before instilling the gel into your eye. Wait for at least 15 minutes before replacing your contact lens.
Tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid, and drop a single drop in the pouch. Close your eye and look downwards. Apply gentle pressure to the inside corner of the eye to prevent the drug from slipping out of the eye. Do not rub or blink your eye. Repeat the same process if your other eye is also affected. Wait for several minutes till your vision clears before you drive or operate any machinery.
Replace the dropper back into the bottle without rinsing it.
If other eye medicines are also prescribed with Timoptic, then wait at least 15 minutes before applying the other eye medication.

Active ingredient: Timolol 6.8mg/ml equivalent to 5mg of Timolol 0.5%.
