What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use.     Be sure to read and carefully follow the instructions that come with Nix 5% dermal cream. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about any questions or concerns you may have.

    Nix 5% dermal cream is for use on the skin only. Do not get the cream in your eyes or mouth. 

    Apply the cream from head to toe. Leave it on for 8 to 14 hours, then rinse. It may be reapplied in 7 days if mites don't go away.

    Ingredients

    Nix dermal cream contains permethrin. Permethrin kills parasites like scabies.

    Contraindications

    • Nix 5% dermal cream should not be used in patients who are allergic to its ingredients.
    • Nix 5% dermal cream should not be used in pediatric patients who are younger than 2 years old. Talk to a doctor before using Nix on a pediatric patient.

    Cautions

    • Before beginning treatment with Nix 5% dermal cream, talk to your doctor about the following:
      • All the medications you take, including other topical creams, lotions, and ointments
      • Your allergies
      • Your medical history and current health problems
      • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
    • Nix 5% dermal cream may temporarily worsen itching, swelling, and redness.
    • Nix 5% dermal cream may cause breathing problems or an asthma attack in patients who have ragweed allergies.

    Side Effects

    Nix 5% dermal cream side effects may include burning, stinging, or itching.

    Tell your doctor if bothersome or continuous side effects develop.
