Do Bald People Get Lice

Concealment is a big part of what allows harmful activity to go on as long as it does with parasites and parasitic activity, and it’s entirely true that fleas wouldn’t have as much leeway with biting pets if the animals weren’t covered in fur. Fleas are not so much of a problem for humans, but lice certainly can be and it’s on the scalp that you’ll find these microscopically-sized miscreants. But is it necessary for them to have the ability to conceal themselves from view with hair? This leads to asking do bald people get lice.  

Fleas would still hop onto a pet if they didn’t have fur, and no doubt there have been instances of a Manx or other hairless cat getting fleas. There is nothing to stop them from doing it, and they will do it without caring whether the animal has a thick coat of fur or not. The same will go for lice on humans. They’ll do better for themselves if they can find a scalp that’s full or hair, but they weren’t turn down an infestation opportunity just because someone is follicle challenged because of male pattern baldness or something similar.

The concealment is a nice bonus, but what’s really necessary and only available with a full head of hair is warmth. Being bald isn’t going to prevent a person from getting lice but the lice will only be able to survive a day or two at most up there if the person doesn’t have hair.  All Not Equal
