How to Save Money on Immunosuppressant Medications

immunosuppressant medications

Most people have a favorite sandwich and often they’ll also have a bread of-choice. For some people it’s sourdough, for others it’s rye or pumpernickel. You probably have a favorite sandwich too, and if you do, you should be thankful you don’t have celiac disease. If you did the gluten in bread would wreak havoc on your digestive system and sandwiches would probably be off the menu. That’s just one of many autoimmune diseases, and the treatment for most of them involves immunosuppressant medications like Prednisone.

There are a LOT of different immunosuppressant medications, and the reason we mentioned Prednisone first is it is a great generalist among these drugs. As the name suggests, immunosuppressant medications suppress the immune system. These drugs make it so that the immune system can go full throttle and cause the problems they do when a person has an autoimmune disease. If it is pain caused by immune system response, you’re probably going to be prescribed immunosuppressant drugs.

Medications of different sorts are expensive, however, and for some people affording them means a type of pain all its own. This is a big issue in America these days, and earlier this year in April, the US House of Representative introduced the Elijah E. Cummings Lower Drugs Costs Now Act to promote negotiations with pharmaceutical companies to lower drugs prices for ones included in Medicare parts B and D.

Taking Aim at Arthritis

Some of the most prescribed immunosuppressant medications are corticosteroids, and that includes all of them that are used to treat the most notorious of autoimmune diseases because of how common it is. We’re talking about arthritis, and there’s fewer worse places to get arthritis than in your hands or knees. It can be a problem elsewhere too, but in these two locations it can really mess with your productivity and quality of life. Finding a good treatment for arthritis in hands can really become a priority if they need their hands to work.

Azulfidine is among immunosuppressant medications too, and it is good for both arthritis and another particularly bad and painful immune system disorder – ulcerative colitis. When the immune system is suppressed in these instances it means major reduction in bowel irritation and pain, and it’s so nice to see when medication provides big-time relief for people who have had the misfortune of developing this condition.

Allergy relief pills are immunosuppressant medications too, and the reason that they’re able to allow some people to enjoy spring and summer despite of all the blooming flowers and pollenating grass is because they push down the immune system in the same way. There are all sorts of natural approaches to conditions, and for seasonal allergies you might be surprised to find that drinking some types of herbal tea can make seasonal allergies less severe. Some people like to mix honey into the green tea, and that’s a much better choice than sugar if you’d like it sweetened a little bit.

Gout be Gone

Another condition that is very common among older men in North America is gout, and if you’ve never had pain in your toes like that you should consider yourself fortunate. Of all the autoimmune diseases, gout may be the most intensely painful and the fact that walking is a big part of our lives makes it even more of a big problem when you’ve got it. Colchicine is among immunosuppressant medications too and the way it effectively treats Gout means that sufferers may not have to drink so much cherry juice that you never want to have even so much as a drop of it ever again.

It may be unfortunate that most men in North America are as fond of bacon and beer as they are. That’s because these are among foods you should avoid when you have gout, and if you can make some dietary changes you may not need to use immunosuppressant medications the same way in the future. It’s also fair to say that many men would be wise to count calories when they get into their 30s and beyond as it is, but we won’t get into that. Gout is incredibly painful even if you recover from it quickly, so it’s best to try and avoid it in the first place.

If there’s any one of the many immunosuppressant medications that has been prescribed for you and you’re a little shocked at what it costs, then do make sure you look into ordering it online from Canada. You may pay less, and you may even pay WAY less for your medication.
