Description
INDERAL (propranolol) is a medication prescribed to treat a variety of different conditions. INDERAL can be prescribed for:
- Angina pectoris due to coronary atherosclerosis
- Atrial fibrillation
- Essential tremor
- Hypertrophic subaortic stenosis
- Migraine
- Myocardial infarction
- Pheochromocytoma
INDERAL works by blocking beta-adrenergic receptors. These types of receptors respond to chemical messengers in the body like epinephrine and norepinephrine. When stimulated, these receptors impact how the cardiovascular system works.
INDERAL causes a decrease in heart rate, contraction strength of the heart, blood pressure, and it reduces how much oxygen the heart needs.
