What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use.     Description

    Laevolac syrup uses: Laevolac is used to treat constipation; it contains a laxative called lactulose.

    Laevolac comes in a 10 g/15 mL oral solution.

    Directions

    Take Laevolac exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Reach out to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about the medication.

    Read the information that comes with your prescription. Your doctor will determine an appropriate Laevolac syrup dosage for you. The dose may be given one time a day or divided into two or three doses a day. Adequate fluids (approximately 6-8 glasses a day) should be consumed while you are being treated with Laevolac.

    Ingredients

    Laevolac contains lactulose. Lactose, galactose, or epilactose may also be contained in Laevolac.

    Contraindications

    Laevolac should not be given to children before asking a doctor.

    • Before you start treatment with Laevolac syrup, tell your doctor:
      • About all the prescription and over-the-counter medications you take
      • About your allergies
      • About your current health conditions and past medical history
      • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
    • Stop using Laevolac and contact your doctor if you have excess gas or bloating.
    • Long-term Laevolac treatment can cause diarrhea and abnormal electrolyte balance. Treatment duration should not exceed 2 weeks unless your doctor tells you it’s okay.

    Side Effects

    Gas, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea are possible Laevolac side effects. However, other side effects may also occur. Call your doctor right away if you have side effects that bother you or won’t go away.
