What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.

The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.

Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.

A person may be prescribed Lumigan RC eye drops if they have conditions of the eye that increase the pressure to unhealthy levels. Conditions that this drug treats include open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension.

Symptoms of ocular hypertension include headache, eye pain, blurred vision, eye redness, nausea, and vomiting. Without treatment, it is possible to lose vision permanently.

Lumigan RC works by increasing the amount of fluid that leaves the eye, lowering the ocular pressure.

Instill one drop into the affected eye once daily in the evening.

The active ingredient in Lumigan RC is bimatoprost.

    The available strengths are:

    • Lumigan RC 2.5 mL
    • Lumigan RC 5 mL
    • Lumigan RC 7.5 mL

Lumigan RC has drug-drug interactions with:

    • Latanoprost
    • Latanoprostene bunod
    • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents

Once you have your prescription and buy Lumigan RC, do not touch the tip of the dropper to the eye because it can lead to bacterial contamination.

Separate the application of different eye medications by at least 5 minutes.

If you wear contact lenses, wait 15 minutes after using Lumigan RC 5ml before putting the lenses in.
