A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use.     Take Myambutol exactly as your doctor has prescribed. Inform your doctor or pharmacist of any questions or concerns you may have.

    The dose of Myambutol is based on weight and is recommended to be taken by mouth once every 24 hours.

    Ethambutol hydrochloride is the active ingredient contained in Myambutol. Inactive ingredients include gelatin, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, magnesium stearate, sodium lauryl sulfate, sorbitol, stearic acid, sucrose, titanium dioxide, and other ingredients.


    Do not take Myambutol if you are allergic to the medication, if you have optic neuritis unless your doctor tells you it's okay to do so, or if you are unable to report vision problems or changes (i.e., young children, unconscious).

    Side Effects

    Vision problems; hypersensitivity; serious allergic reactions. including anaphylaxis; skin problems, joint pain, nausea, anorexia, vomiting, stomach pain, fever, headache, dizziness, mental status changes, and abnormal blood counts can occur; however, these are not all the side effects that may develop. Immediately call your doctor if you have side effects that bother you or won't go away.
