    Natazia (estradiol valerate and estradiol valerate/dienogest) is a combined oral contraceptive used to prevent pregnancy and to treat heavy periods.

    Natazia is available in a 28-day blister pack containing the following oral tablets:

    • 2 dark yellow tablets that contain 3 mg of estradiol valerate
    • 5 medium red tablets that contain 2 mg of estradiol valerate and 2 mg dienogest
    • 17 light yellow tablets that contain 2 mg of estradiol valerate and 3 mg dienogest
    • 2 dark red tablets that contain 1 mg of estradiol valerate
    • 2 white inactive tablets

    Directions

    Take Natazia birth control pills as prescribed by your doctor. For further instructions for use, refer to the medication guide that accompanies the product.

    The recommended dose is to take one tablet by mouth once daily at the same time every day. Take the tablets in the order as directed on the blister pack. Avoid skipping or delaying your dose by more than 12 hours.

    Keep Natazia stored at 25°C (77°F) and away from children’s reach.

    Contraindications

    Patients who are pregnant, have a high risk of arterial or venous thrombotic diseases, have irregular uterine bleeding that is undiagnosed, have breast cancer, or have liver disease or tumors should not take Natazia.

    Cautions

    • Natazia contains the following FDA Boxed Warning:
      • Natazia should not be taken by women who are older than 35 and smoke.
      • The risk of serious cardiovascular events from combined oral contraceptives is increased with cigarette smoking.
    • Before you begin taking Natazia, tell your doctor or pharmacist about:
      • All the prescription and over-the-counter medications you take
      • Your allergies
      • Your current health problems and past medical history
      • Your pregnancy or breastfeeding status
    • Natazia is associated with the following warnings and precautions:
      • Vascular problems
      • Liver disease
      • High blood pressure
      • Carbohydrate and lipid metabolic impacts
      • Headache
      • Uterine bleeding
      • CYP3A4 inducers (e.g., phenytoin, carbamazepine, rifampicin, St. John’s wort) can decrease the effects of Natazia; another combined oral contraceptive should be considered

    Side Effects

    Headache, breast pain, nausea, vomiting, menstrual problems, mood changes, acne, and weight gain are common Natazia side effects; however, other side effects may also occur. Immediately tell your doctor about any side effects that bother you or persist.
