    Description

    Savaysa is a prescription medication used to prevent strokes that could result from atrial fibrillation. It is also a DVT medication for treating deep vein thrombosis to prevent blood clots in the leg or can also be used to treat a pulmonary embolism in the lungs. For DVT or embolism Savaysa will usually be used with a blood thinner prior to beginning on the medication.     Directions

    Interactions

    There is the possibility of drug interactions between Savaysa and aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), blood thinners like Warfarin, Heparin, or other medicines to prevent or treat blood clots, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), and serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) which are common among antidepressant and mood regulation medications.

    It is always best to tell your doctor of all medications you are currently taking when you meet to speak about blood clot and stroke prevention medication.

    Side Effects

    Side effects from Savaysa are rare, but some people may experience burning sensation, skin redness or swelling, itching or rash.

    In the event of severe side effects or ones that worsen you should discontinue use and speak with your doctor again to look at stroke from atrial fibrillation prevention options.
