    Contraindications

    Silvadene Cream 1% should not be used on pregnant women who are close to or at term, premature infants, or newborn infants.

    Cautions

    • Before you begin using Silvadene Cream 1% for burns, tell your doctor about:
      • Any medications you use, including other creams, lotions, or ointments
      • Your allergies

    • Absorption of Silvadene Cream 1% varies based on body surface area and tissue damage.
    • Patients who are allergic to sulfonamides may develop a reaction to Silvadene Cream 1%.
    • Fungal proliferation can occur in and below the dead tissue.
    • Patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency may need to avoid Silvadene Cream 1%, as hemolysis (breakdown of red blood cells) can occur.
