Be Smart with Approaches to Weight Loss

medical weight loss

Inevitabilities are a reality of life, and one of the ones that leads to a whole lot of disenchantment is the fact everyone’s metabolism starts to slow down in their 30s. Men and women alike, there’s a whole lot of us who were slim and trim all through our youth and 20s too but then in the next decade we start to gain weight. Revving up a waning metabolism isn’t easy to do, and so if you want to fight back against weight gain you need to look at how you’re going to approach it. For some people the standard diet and exercise changes don’t do much, so the focus shifts to medical weight loss.

Bad eating habits and a slower metabolism will lead many people to be anywhere between 5 to 20kg overweight. That’s fairly common, and especially for men who find it is difficult to avoid developing a ‘spare tire’ around their midsection. These factors rarely lead a person to suffer from obesity, but eating disorders certainly can in the case of obese people there will almost always be a need for medical weight loss and Xenical is one of the medications that may be prescribed. A calorie-restricted diet will be required though.

The slower metabolism, the more the problem for ordinary folks has to do with loss of muscle mass, and that’ something that most people won’t know unless they’re very familiar with human physiology. This a good point for us to mention that rethinking weight loss is important if you really need to lose weight, and that’s because weight loss has more to do with what you eat and how much of it you eat as compared to how many calories you’re burning as part of medical weight loss or on its own.

Working Around the Equation

The age-old equation for weight loss has always been to burn more calories than you consume over any period of time. That will work well for some people, but for others there are health issues that make that impossible. In these instances, medical weight loss may be an option, but where every approach to weight loss needs to start is around what’s on the end of your fork and not how much of it is going into your mouth.

Humans have basic nutritional minimums and there’s no debating the fact that eating food that is nutritious that way usually eating foods that are lower in calories and don’t contribute to glycemic load so much. Eating optimally isn’t something that’s easy to do, even for people who do have some knowledge about it. So if you are a person who’s decided to commit to losing weight your best choice if you’re also not well informed about diet choices is to start working with a dietitian. Ideally this comes long before you begin to look into medical weight loss.

This isn’t to suggest that he or she will tell you that you need to go through the discomfort of limiting what you eat. Different people have different appetites, and if you have a large one naturally it is not necessarily a bad thing! But one part of rethinking weight loss in this regard is you may need to get ‘full’ eating different types of foods that aren’t so quick to promote weight gain. Need an example? Lima beans can be just as filling as a pile of processed meats and cheeses. Just one of many eating habit changes you can try.

Add to the Fight

Medical weight loss does work well for some people, but for most any pill for weight loss isn’t going to be needed provided they take a smart approach to weight loss. One that is more focused on eating smarter and that’s doesn’t always have to mean eating less. Take a diet-1st, exercise-2nd approach to weight loss and you will likely get better results and more of the slimming down you’re hoping to see. The next suggestion for rethinking weight loss is to take advantage of complimentary treatments that can help with people losing weight or those having medical weight loss treatments.

Not to say weight loss medication won’t be a possibility, but some people may get the added weight loss results they’re after by using an infrared sauna to accelerate weight loss. That’s just one example. Another one could be to try hypnotherapy for weight loss if food addictions and the irresistible cravings are something you can’t overcome on your own simply with willpower. For people who are majorly overweight or obese this can be key to getting past mental blocks that may threaten to jeopardize the effectiveness of their medical weight loss treatment.
