What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.

The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.

Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.

    Description

    F-Shield Natural Herbal Shampoo is made for dogs and cats to help protect them from fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes. It uses natural plant oils such as cinnamon, rosemary, cedarwood, lemon, eucalyptus, clove, peppermint, and safflower oil. The shampoo also contains vitamin E to support healthy skin. F-Shield is designed for pets older than 12 weeks and offers six types of protection, helping to keep pests away while calming sensitive skin.

    Directions

    Wet the pet’s coat thoroughly with warm water and apply the shampoo evenly from tail to head. Massage it gently into the skin and coat, then leave the shampoo on for a few minutes before rinsing completely with warm, clean water. Avoid contact with the eyes, and if the product touches the eyes, rinse them well with cold water. Store below 30°C and keep out of reach of children.

    Ingredients

    The active ingredients in F-Shield are cinnamon oil, rosemary oil, cedarwood oil, lemon, eucalyptus oil, clove oil, peppermint oil, safflower oil, and vitamin E.

    Contraindications

    Avoid giving this medication in dogs and cats in which the following apply:

    • Known allergy or sensitivity to any ingredient in the shampoo
    • Pets under 12 weeks old
    • Open wounds or severe skin infections
    • History of adverse reactions to herbal or essential oil products

    Cautions

    Before using F-Shield Herbal Shampoo, consider the following:

    • Only use it on dogs over 12 weeks old.
    • Keep the shampoo away from your pet's eyes. If contact occurs, rinse immediately with cold water.
    • The shampoo is not meant for internal use. If it’s accidentally swallowed, seek veterinary advice and induce vomiting if instructed.
    • Do not use human shampoos on pets, as their skin pH differs from humans.
    • Store the shampoo below 30°C, away from direct sunlight.
    • Watch for signs of irritation, redness, or discomfort after use and consult a veterinarian if these occur.
    • For external use only; avoid application to open wounds or broken skin.
    • Keep shampoo out of reach of young children and pets when not in use.

    Side Effects

    F-Shield Natural Herbal Shampoo may cause mild side effects in some dogs. The most common reactions include temporary skin irritation, mild redness, or itching, especially if the pet has sensitive skin. This shampoo contains natural oils like peppermint, clove, and rosemary, which may trigger mild allergic reactions in rare cases.

    More serious side effects are rare but may occur if the shampoo gets into the pet’s eyes or is accidentally swallowed. Contact with the eyes can cause discomfort, redness, or excessive tearing. If it’s ingested, dogs may experience drooling, vomiting, or stomach upset. Pet owners should seek veterinary attention if serious symptoms develop or persist.
