    Before you begin taking vitamin B12 supplements, talk to your doctor. Your doctor may want to check your vitamin B12 levels and can suggest the right dose for you.

    • Patients with Leber's optic atrophy should avoid products that contain cyanocobalamin; alternative therapy should be considered. Patients should talk to their doctor about treatment options.
