What is Cytomel Used For?
Cytomel is an artificial thyroid hormone that is given to a patient whose thyroid gland is not producing enough thyroid hormones. The thyroid gland plays the important role in regulating the body’s energy and metabolism. In growing children, it plays an essential role in their growth and learning process. Cytomel is given to patients when there is under production of the thyroid hormones (hypothyroidism).
Underproduction usually results from injury to the thyroid gland due to medication, radiation, or surgical removal of the gland. Symptoms of hypothyroidism include tiredness, muscle aches, slow heartbeat, weight gain, dry skin, and sensitivity to cold. Cytomel acts by replacing or providing more thyroid hormone, which is otherwise produced normally by our bodies.
Cytomel is also used to treat or prevent goiter (enlarged thyroid gland) and other thyroid disorders like thyroid cancer. Cytomel should not be used for obesity or weight problems.
You can buy Cytomel online from Canada Pharmacy.
The active ingredient is Liothyronine sodium (it comes in 3 strengths):
- Liothyronine 5mcg
- Liothyronine 25mcg
- Liothyronine 50mcg
Cytomel should be used as prescribed by your doctor. The usual dose is one tablet daily. Preferably, it should be taken at the same time each day to maintain constant thyroid levels. Your doctor may occasionally alter your dose to get the best results.
To be sure that Cytomel is improving your condition, blood tests to test thyroid levels have to be often done. If your physician switches you to Cytomel from some other thyroid medication, stop the other treatment before starting with Cytomel.
Thyroid replacement treatment is usually taken for life.

What is a Generic Drug?
A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.
The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.
Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.
