What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use.     MAVIK (trandolapril) is a prescription medication used to lower high blood pressure. Since high blood pressure is a component of several diseases, it can be used to treat the following:

    • Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF)
    • Hypertension
    • Left ventricular dysfunction
    • Post- heart attack heart failure

    MAVIK is a type of medication called an ACE inhibitor. It prevents the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, which decreases blood pressure. MAVIK is converted to its active form in the liver.


    Take MAVIK exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. It should be taken once daily on an empty stomach.

    The initial dose of MAVIK is 1 mg by mouth once daily. The dose should be increased to a maximum dose of 4 mg by mouth once daily.

    MAVIK is available in 1 mg, 2 mg, and 4 mg tablets.


    The active ingredient in MAVIK is trandolapril.


    Common drug-drug interactions with MAVIK may include: 

    • Aliskiren
